The team of doctors at Cooper Eye Care in New York City, with offices in Manhattan and Brooklyn serving the surrounding areas of Upper East Side and Dyker Heights, are friendly, professional, and focused on care. As part of a leading eye care practice in New York City, optometrists Jeffrey Cooper, OD, Gregory Borukhov, OD, Nadine M. Eisenberg, OD, Vanessa Conenna, OD, Eleni Sehremelis, OD, and Rachel Kim, OD offer their experience and talent to their patients in the New York area. The team at Cooper Eye Care includes optometrists, ophthalmologists, and opticians to deliver expert care.

About Dr. Jeffrey Cooper

Jeffrey Cooper received his O.D from Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 1971 and an M.S. in Physiological Optics from State University of New York in 1978.  He completed a residency in Binocular Vision and Visual Perception in 1971 and subsequently was appointed the co-chairman of the vision therapy department.  He taught at the SUNY College of Optometry from 1971 to 2015, where he obtained the rank of Clinical Professor.  He taught strabismus and amblyopia diagnosis in both the professional program and the residency program; in addition, he taught in the primary care department, vision therapy department and ocular disease departments. He retired as Professor Emeritus.  He has authored over 60 peer reviewed papers dealing with anomalies of binocular vision, stereopsis, and glaucoma. He served as the principal investigator of two NIH/NEI clinical trials. He lectures in the greater NY basic science program for Ophthalmology each year at Columbia University. He was one of the first optometrists to incorporate atropine into his practice to slow the progression of myopia. He is the inventor of both Computer Orthoptics and the HTS programs which were used in the CITT clinical trials. He is on the advisory boards of VTI, Alcon, Treehouse, Computer Orthoptics, and Magic Leap.

About Dr. Gregory Borukhov

Dr. Borukhov is highly skilled in primary care optometry and ocular disease management, with an emphasis on various types of contact lens fittings (including astigmatic, multifocal and complicated fits). Dr. Borukhov also evaluates, diagnoses and provides up-to-date treatment options for Myopia Control (including Atropine, Ortho K, and Multifocal Lenses), Dry Eye, LASIK/PRK, Cataracts, and Glaucoma. Dr. Borukhov serves as the Director of Pediatric Eye Care, Binocular Vision and Vision Therapy Services in our Manhattan and Brooklyn offices. Dr. Borukhov has extensive experience and expertise in the care of pediatric and adult patients with special emphasis on binocular vision problems, visual perceptual dysfunction, developmental vision issues and neuro – rehabilitation with traumatic brain injury patients.

Undergraduate: Psychology/Chemistry at CUNY, Hunter College.
Doctorate: SUNY State College of Optometry in New York, where he was honored with the COVD Award for Excellence in Vision Training.

About Dr. Nadine Eisenberg

Dr. Nadine Jamal Eisenberg graduated from Trinity College with a BS in Psychology. She received her doctorate degree from SUNY College of Optometry where she graduated with honors. She also completed an externship in Cornea & Specialty Contact Lens including the fitting and management of keratoconus, high astigmatism and ortho-keratology and is currently the director of our contact lens department. Dr. Eisenberg is highly involved in myopia control and has published several papers on the matter. She also has extensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment of eye muscle disorders, binocular vision disorders, eye-related learning problems, and vision therapy.

About Dr. Vanessa Conenna

Dr. Conenna specializes in primary eye care of the eye and management of ocular disease. She has more than 12 years experience in treating and managing eye care and vision issues. Prior to attending optometry school she was a technician and vision therapist. She fits specialty contact lenses as well as ortho K. Dr. Conenna had been co managing pre and post op care for both cataracts and Lasik. She has also been more recently involved with myopia control

Member of American Academy of Optometry, Member of College of Optometrist in Vision Development.

About Dr. Eleni Sehremelis

Dr. Eleni Sehremelis graduated from the University of Southern California with a bachelor’s degree in Human Biology. She went on to receive her O.D. from the New England College of Optometry in Boston, Massachusetts. Dr. Sehremelis specializes in primary eye care including the treatment and management of ocular disease. She evaluates and diagnoses conditions such as Glaucoma, Dry Eye, Cataracts, and Pre and Post op LASIK/PRK. Dr. Sehremelis is experienced with myopia control including Ortho Keratology, Atropine and Multifocal Contact Lenses. She fits specialty contact lenses including scleral lenses and rigid gas permeable lenses. Dr. Sehremelis has been more recently involved in diagnosing and treating binocular vision disorders as well as vision therapy.

About Dr. Rachel Kim

Dr. Rachel Kim graduated from Stony Brook University with a B.S. in Biology. She went on to earn her doctorate degree at SUNY College of Optometry where she graduated as a member of the Gold Key Honor Society recognizing leadership and service to the community and profession. Dr. Kim provides comprehensive eye care to patients of all ages with refractive error, ocular disease, and binocular vision disorders including providing vision therapy. She is experienced in the treatment and management of ocular diseases such as glaucoma, dry eye, cataract, macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy. Dr. Kim fits soft contact lenses and specialty contact lenses including scleral lenses and ortho-k. She is also involved in myopia management utilizing atropine, multifocal contact lenses, and ortho-k. Dr. Kim is an active member of American Academy of Optometry and has presented case reports on advanced ocular disease. 

Undergrad: Stony Brook University 

Graduate: SUNY College of Optometry, recipient of the Billie M. Lyons Memorial Award for Distinguished Service to the College Community
