Go home and keep your eyes relatively quiet for the first evening (closed is preferred)
Wear the shield for the next five nights
Try to do as least as possible for the first day
Do take a nap, vision and comfort improve after sleeping
Use antibiotics (Ocuflox, Ciloxan) and steroid drops (Pred Forte 1%, Econopred) every 2 hours for the first 24 hours then 4x a day for about a week
Use lubricating drops to prevent dry eye symptoms, symptoms are usually present for a week but can last up to 6 mos
Do come in right away with complaints of decreased vision or pain
Do wear racquetball glasses when playing tennis or any other sport that might cause injury to the eye.
Do wear plastic lenses that filter UVA and UVA (ultra-violet) light
Do not rub the eye at all for at least 48 hrs. Actually try not to rub your eyes for a couple of weeks
Do not let water get into the eye from a shower for 48 hrs. No soap on your face for one week.
Do not go into a swimming pool or hot tub for 2 week
Do not go into the ocean for 2 week
Do not scuba dive for 1 month
Restrict exercises that cause sweating for 1 week
No hairspray either a day before or day after surgery
Close eyes when putting hairspray or deodorant on
